THERAPY FOR CHILDREN, ADULTS, COUPLES, & FAMILIES
About Me

My interest in therapy began as a child.  At a young age I found myself wanting to make others feel better.  As I got older, my friends came to me during difficult times for advice and guidance.  Being able to relieve someone of their pain and frustration was an amazingly rewarding experience.  I decided in high school that I would pursue a career that gave me the opportunity to help others.  I received a degree in psychology from Louisiana State University in 1996.  I then earned a master's degree in social work from Tulane University in 1998 and began my career in Louisiana.  I relocated to North Carolina 5 years
ago with my husband of 13 years and our triplet daughters.  I have had my fair share of unexpected life challenges such as having triplets, living through hurricane Katrina, and moving away from my family and friends.  I know how stressful life can be and how important it is to have a strong network of support.

My therapeutic philosphy is based on the theory of cognitive behavior therapy.  We face life challenges everyday and our thoughts about those challenges affect how we feel.  By learning how to identify the negative thoughts affecting our emotions we are able to change them creating a more positive life experience.  Together we will use cognitive behavioral thechniques to challenge those negative thoughts and create a more successful and fulfilling life for you. These techniques have been scientifically proven effective for children, adults, and couples facing a variety of issues.  Although my focus is on cognitive behavior therapy, I understand that everyone is unique and therefore requires an individually tailored therapy.  My belief is that the success of therapy comes from the collaboration of the therapist and the client.  I look forward to helping you reach your personal goals.
